LaVonne Taylor
LaVonne Taylor has had a long career in publishing, starting after college as a stringer for her hometown newspaper. As owner operator of a small micropublishing firm she was responsible for the publication of two books, LA My Way (an anthology of short stories), and On the Wings of Song: My Life with the Maestro by Wanda Weiskopf (a memoir), she has others slated for publication in the near future. Taylor publishes the quarterly literary mag The Taylor Trust: Poetry & Prose. She has served as president of several writers’ organizations, and now manages her own writing and editorial services business. Following her stint in the newspaper world, she moved on to work as managing editor for McGraw-Hill Educational Publishing in the subject areas of health and art, both expressions of her lifelong interests. After that she went aboard as lead copy editor at Shape magazine, and left as associate managing editor nine years later. She holds an MA in fiction writing and has been certified as an American Council on Exercise fitness professional.
